On May 29th 1947 the inaugural meeting of the Rotary Club of Orbost No 6642 was held at the St Andrew's Hall with a charter membership of 17. Our first President was W. G. Robinson and the District Governor was J.M.Edgar

Our Charter members were W Godfrey Robinson, Rupert Mosley, Harry Silke, Fred Herbert, Tom Allardice, George Otzen, Orme Andrews,William Cavell, Frank Dicken, Bob Gall, Bill Hollingsworth, Reg Macalister, Frank Mathews, Norm Pitt, Clarrie Reynolds and Eric White.

Rotary had arrived in Orbost

On Friday November 21st. 1947 the Charter was presented to President Godfrey, by District Govener John Edgar, at a function held in the Mechanic's Hall.

At that time meetings were held at "Waratah Cafe Orbost".
